From 30 July to 12 August 2018, Aarhus was home to the Hempel Sailing World Championships, one of the biggest global sailing events in the world and the first big qualification for the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. The largest event in the region attracted hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world including athletes, spectators, race officials and media. The organisers have set the goal of making it the most sustainable sailing event in history, where transportation by shared bikes played a big part in reducing the costs and carbon footprint of the event. During the event organisers and race officials were getting around on orange Donkey Republic shared bikes in Aarhus.

The 5th till the 9th of September marks the annual Techfestival, which will attract 16,000 tech-interested people to the Copenhagen Meatpacking district. The festival is anchored in the idea that we as humans should reflect on our relationship to technology. Biking through Paris is the best way to explore the magic of the city and make a truly remarkable experience. The French capital has a good public transport system except when there are constructions, late RERs … you get where this is going. Cycling has a lot of great advantages. It’s less expensive than metro tickets or taxis, while biking, you make space for pastries, it is environmentally friendly and the list goes on. So I was thrilled to hear that MyCityHighlight is working together with Donkey Republic bike rental. My name is Sabina and I am the City Manager in Paris at MyCityHighlight, the most personal travel companion in Europe.

Donkey Republic invited tech and mobility interested Copenhageners to a Meetup during this year’s Techfestival. Rearing many perspectives, the general consensus is that collaboration is key for the future of urban mobility, where shared transportation and vehicles will be one of the solutions.
